D’Arenberg The Conscious Biosphere Petit Sirah Aglianico
The palate is powerful, dark, and firmly structured, opening with black plum, blueberry compote, and blackberry before the Aglianico component brings its signature tar, leather, and savoury mineral grip. Petit Sirah contributes inky depth, dense fruit, and chewy tannin, while Aglianico adds tension, acidity, and a stern, volcanic‑feeling backbone. The mid‑palate is layered with cocoa, black pepper, dried herbs, and a touch of ironstone, giving the wine both richness and austerity. Tannins are firm, chalk‑edged, and assertive, yet well‑integrated, and the acidity is bright enough to keep the wine lifted. The finish is long, brooding, and earthy, carrying dark fruit, spice, and a lingering mineral edge that speaks to both varieties’ naturally robust personalities.
