It opens with aromas of red cherry, raspberry, subtle black fruit, and warm spice, with a gentle earth‑mineral lift from the clay‑limestone soils. Compared to Chamirey’s Premier Crus, Clos de la Maladière is more approachable, brighter, and more fruit‑forward, while still carrying the domaine’s hallmark finesse. On the palate, it is silky, fresh, and medium‑bodied, showing flavors of red berries, cherry skin, light earth, and spice, supported by fine tannins and balanced acidity. The partial destemming and gentle extraction keep the wine pure and elegant.
