Turkey Flat Butcher’s Block

Variety: Grenache Shiraz Mataro
Region: Barossa Valley, SA
Vintage: 2017

Turkey Flat Butcher's Block A medium-bodied palate with red and black berries. Layers of spice, dark plum, cassis and berry fruit adorn the palate - pleasantly held together by fine tannins. Smooth & delicious. Each varietal is vinified & aged individually in French oak barrels before the final blending process. Shiraz adds the generous mouthfeel, Grenache the spice and cherry-like sweetness and Mataro the backbone, savoury edge and fragrance. Balance is crucial, each varietal’s contribution is evident, yet nothing competes for your attention.

Tyson Stelzer

“The embodiment of modern Barossa SGM, uniting the juicy persona of classic old vines with the crunchy tang of an al dente harvest and the fragrant, herbal lift of strategically deployed whole bunch fermentation. The result is playfully enticing, bucket loads of fun and eminently tapas-ready.”

Huon Hooke

“Medium to full red to brick-red colour with the merest tinge of purple, the bouquet is subtle and earthy with spicy notes and a plummy edge. It’s admirably fruit-driven. Peppery mataro is evident. The wine is medium-weight at best and savoury, with some forward-development evident. It’s ready now, fairly mellow, beautifully balanced and very pleasant drinking.”
