"The Gask is sourced from a single plot of Shiraz nestled into the eastern slope of Mount McKenzie in Eden Valley that is painstakingly nurtured by the Knight family." The elevated sites in Eden Valley yield small, intense berries that possess great intensity of flavour without sacrificing balance and poise. Heroic in style, it still retains the cooler edge and bold structure that make the great wines from Eden Valley famous. Deep purple in colour. Blue and red fruits are immediate such as wild blueberry and plum balance by mineral strewn notes of graphite and wet earth. Soft and elegant this wine possesses aromas of plum and eucalypt, whilst concentrated fruit gives the wine an inklike hue. The generous palate displays notes of freshly crushed blackberry and graphite, giving way to a tightly wound tannin profile. Firm, medium bodied with a long finish balanced by tannins, acid and an athletic structure. Aged in seasoned French oak barriques this is a wine to appreciate now but will also benefit from 5 to 10 years in the cellar.Awards:
2018 THE GASK RATING: 95
Deep, bold purple/red colour, with a lifted perfume typical of Eden Valley, complete with raspberry fruit - a matter of red rather than
black fruits. It’s intense and fruit-sweet, lush and rounded, with stacks of flavour but not especially big, nor very tannic. A delightfully
lush wine, and classic Eden Valley.
