Flinty notes with dark fruits and forest compote on the nose. Boysenberry, blackberry and spice flavours, with hints of smoke and roasted nuts. Silky and ample tannin with a moreish feel. The beating heart of Jim Barry Wines lies on the northern outskirts of Clare. In 1959, on a property known as Atherley, Jim and Nancy made their home; a place to raise their six children and build a wine business of their own. They opened their first cellar door in an old schoolhouse and in 1973, went on to build a state-of-the-art winery. Wine has been flowing in the Clare Valley since 1851 and is an integral part of the culture. It is one of Australia’s most prestigious premium wine regions, most famous for its Riesling and Shiraz. A small area, accounting for less than 1.5% of Australia’s total wine production. With its beautiful, rolling hills, ideal winter rainfall and Mediteranean climate, the Clare Valley carries a unique history and winemaking heritage.
