The Henschke family has been making wine in the Barossa’s Eden Valley wine region since 1868. Fifth-generation winemaker Stephen Henschke and his viticulturist wife Prue are recognized around the world for their exceptional quality wines, innovative spirit, focus on restoring native vegetation and organic and bio-dynamic practices in the vineyard. The Henschke wine-making tradition now spans six generations, with vineyards in the Eden Valley, Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills, including acclaimed single-vineyards, Hill of Grace and Mount Edelstone. September brought good rainfall for the Adelaide Hills, filling most dams and encouraging even bud-burst. Perfect November weather during flowering delivered good set on small bunches. The mild conditions remained well below 30 degrees in February/March, resulting in Pinot Gris from Littlehampton being picked in excellent condition. Fermented in stainless steel and held on lees in tank for 6 months with regular stirring to build complexity.
Pale straw with bright-green hues. Fragrant, floral aromas of frangipani, ginger flower and orange blossom, with notes of white peach, nectarine, nashi pear and citrus zest.
A rich, full-flavoured palate of creamy yellow peach, brown spices and ginger, fresh, crisp grapefruit acidity providing excellent length and depth, and a layered, textural finish.Awards:
