Giant Steps has forged a reputation for delivering some of Australia’s most consistent, over-performing, varietal wines.
Which is why there is no surprise when we say that the Giant Steps Chardonnay 2020, is a great vintage to enjoy on any occasion.
Consisting of Stone fruit, melon, and butterscotch characters supported by vanillin oak. The Giant Steps Chardonnay has a palate that is long and textured with a clean crisp finish.
“Impressive chardonnay with grapefruit, lime, white peach, biscuit, ginger, struck-flint and attractive nutty-oak flavours flattered by a peaches and cream texture and supported by juicy acidity. Drink 2021 to 2026.” – Bob Campbell MW
“Pale straw colour with some green notes in the rim. Roast nuts, lemon balm and a whiff of struck-flint. Tight and driven on the palate, a bright citrus core flows front to back, with a smoke and mineral savoury line alongside. Quite narrow along the palate but walks the line of tight and skinny very well showing enough weight and concentration through to the finish. A lovely modern example of Yarra Valley chardonnay.” – 93 Points , Stuart Knox
“Hand-picked, chilled, whole-bunch pressed, wild fermentation on full solids, no stirring, no mlf, matured in French oak (10% new) for 8 months. The bouquet is slightly funky/reduced, but it’s elegance and purity that are the essence of this wine, made by a master of the art.” – James Halliday
