Elegant McLaren Vale shiraz A bright, lifted nose with plum, dark cherry and spice. The palate is medium to full bodied with red fruits, dark berry and cigar box. A wine that's rich and creamy with well integrated oak and fine grained tannins. Cellar this wine for 10-12 years.
Awards:"One of the classic Shiraz wines of Australia for me. Speaks of place. Cellars well. Not too expensive.
Ripe, fleshy, plenty of tannin and ironstone, a little aniseed and cedar oak in support, black fruit and cocoa. Full-bodied, maybe some raspberry freshness in with the black fruit, saline, chewy and deep tannin, quite fresh, ferrous with a smattering of fragrant dried herb. Finish is packed with toothsome tannin, and long with it. The chew and earthiness is wonderful. Speaks of place in loud and proud voice. 93+ points" Gary Walsh, The Winefront
"Largely 50yo plantings. Destemmed, open-top fermented and on skins for a meagre 10 days. 18 months in French oak (25% new). Fine and powdery tannins, reliant on what is clearly high-quality wood and a brief extraction window. It works. Black/blue fruits, a sluice of anise and clove and a whiff of violet. Warm. Generous. Yet these descriptives are at times inane and repetitive. It is the texture that makes any good wine and for an estate bottling, this has a generous fealty to region and winning texture tattooed into its being. 92 points" Ned Goodwin, Halliday Wine Companion
