Ashton Hills Piccadilly Valley Pinot Noir

Variety: Pinot Noir
Region: Ashton , South Australia
Vintage: 2019

Lifted fresh red and black fruits, layered with autumnal notes and spice from some whole bunch fermentation. Juicy and red fruited, with a plush and supple palate. There is a hint of spice and fresh herbs from the whole bunch component and the mouthwatering natural acidity and fine tannins result in a textural and long lasting finish. Piccadilly Valley Pinot Noir is a blend of fruit from a few of the neighbours as well as a contribution from de-classified Ashton Hills Reserve/ Estate parcels. Stephen George has taken great interest in applying his wine making approach to parcels from elsewhere within the Piccadilly Valley and seeing how the wines compare with those from the Ashton Hills vineyard. The resulting blend benefits from varied fruit character and vineyard expression, while maintaining the fine tannin structure that is typical of the Ashton Hills style.

Awards:

Decanter, David Sly - JULY 2021
94 POINTS
“Vivacious with strong, deliberate variants in cherry flavour and texture – a lively,
bossy string quartet in full flight. Acidity drives the back palate to a shrill, high final
note that persists. Quite an opus for an immediately approachable and likeable
wine.”
JamesSuckling.com, Nick Stock - JUNE 2021
93 POINTS
“A fresh, fragrant pinot with such alluring perfume and bright strawberries and red
cherries on offer. Bright and fine on the palate with zesty pink and red-berry flavors
that really pop. This is an ethereal wine and shows a definite step in the direction of
elegance at Ashton Hills. Great value, too. Drink now.”
The Real Review, Stuart Knox - MAY 2021
92 POINTS
“Light to medium ruby-red core, with a brick-red tint to the rim. Red cherry, bay
leaf and crumbly clay aromas. Medium-weight but lashings of red cherry intensity.
That settles into a savoury dry herb and charred meat complexity. Flows long and silky into a tannin driven dry finish.”
